The Paratoopers Brigade was founded in 1951 to operate as an elite infantry brigade.

Paratroopers operate with high mobility in all forms of warfare.

The brigade is composed of three regular service battalions and one reconnaissance battalion.

Paratroopers wear a red beret, red shoes and a special shirt with an added belt. Joining the brigade requires a trial period and extensive physical and pyschological exams.

Paratroopers played a key role in the Six-Day War in 1967, during the battle of Ammunition Hill and the liberation of Jerusalem.
