The passengers of the Gaza flotilla are seen here preparing for confrontation with the IDF soldiers. The rioters put on gas masks and arm themselves with rods, slingshots, broken bottles, metal objects, and water hoses. As the IDF soldiers approach the ship the rioters immediately attack the forces by hurling these objects at them.

Hamas Refuses to Allow Flotilla Aid into Gaza Strip, 2 June 2010

As of right now, the State of Israel has loaded 20 trucks with various types of aid found onboard the flotilla. Expired medication, clothing, blankets, some medical equipment and toys were among the aid found on the ships.

Unfortunately, the Hamas terror organization is unwilling to accept the cargo and the trucks filled with humanitarian aid have not been allowed to enter the Gaza Strip. It appears that Hamas is in fact stopping the transfer of the humanitarian aid.

When IDF forces boarded the Mavi Marmara in order to redirect it towards the Port of Ashdod, they encountered protestors armed with such weapons as knives, slingshots, bags of marbles, metal and wooden clubs, chains, mace, and Molotov cocktails. Above are photos of  weapons found on the ship including two of a slingshot with the word “Hizbullah” written across the handle. When IDF soldiers intercepted the other five ships of the flotilla, they did not encounter any resistance and no one was injured. However, the instant the soldiers boarded the Mavi Marmara they were met with extreme violence and responded in self defense.
