On Thursday, May 28th 2010, Home Front Command’s national exercise, Turning Point 4, concluded. During the exercise local municipalities and emergency response teams drilled across the country. Teams simulated rescue operations in various mock disasters zones including a train that had flipped over in Hadera, and they also practiced clearing the “Palmahim” base after it was “hit” by chemical weapons.

Overnight, the Israel Air Force struck a terror tunnel in the southern Gaza Strip. The tunnel was intended for infiltrating into Israel and executing terror attacks against IDF soldiers and Israeli civilians. A Direct hit was identified.
The strike is in response to the rocket that was fired at Israel and hit the Ashkelon Shore Regional Council on Saturday evening.
Approximately 50 rockets have landed in Israeli territory since the beginning of 2010, and over 330 rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip into Israel since the end of operation Cast Lead.
The IDF remains committed to protecting the citizens of Israel and will continue to act against terror. The IDF holds Hamas solely responsible for terror emanating from the Gaza Strip.
