Background Information on the Jewish High Holidays

Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur, Succoth and Simchat Torah all comprise the High Holidays which occur at the beginning of the Jewish year.

The IDF is made up of enlisted soldiers coming from many faiths and backgrounds, and as the main force defending the Jewish State, many of its soldiers celebrate and are given days off from their service during these holidays.
